The UC Berkeley IGERT program in Politics, Economics, Psychology, and Public Policy (PEPPP) is an inter-disciplinary graduate fellowship program animated by the twin goals of addresssing key public policy problems while fostering and advancing inter-disciplinary research in the social sciences. The IGERT/PEPPP program provides two-year fellowships to Ph.D. students beginning in either their second or third years who have not advanced to candidacy. All students meeting these criteria from the departments of economics, political science, Psychology, Business, and the Goldman School of Public Policy may apply. The application deadline to apply for the 2008/2009 cohort of IGERT fellows will be January 20th.
The Institute of Business and Economic Research (IBER) provides small grants to aid in research by graduate students in the Ph.D. programs in Economics, Business, Public Policy, Ag Econ, and Demography. The maximum award is $1,000. Grants may be used to cover out-of-pocket expenses associated with gathering data or conducting interviews in support of a Ph.D. dissertation. There is no specific deadline. Awards are made on a rolling basis; the Institute makes awards to strong applications as long as sufficient funds remain. (Funds are periodically refreshed by new contributions from donors.)
